Introduction

Digital media has quickly changed how parents and children communicate, enjoy themselves, acquire information, and solve problems daily (both in ordinary and exceptional circumstances such as COVID-19 home confinement). Very young children are regular users of smartphones and tablets, as a result of their early digital engagement, the parent-child relationship and parental roles are faced with new challenges.

To help curb the unhealthy digital habits children have developed throughout the pandemic and help parents create a safe online environment for kids to learn and grow, we built Monitor by Parentry. With tools that let parents manage websites, games and apps usage, it is easy to help kids learn online without distractions. By creating filters, parents can ensure that their kids enjoy the Internet safely - without needing to check upon them.

Analysis of products like Qustodio, Google Family Link, Microsoft Family Safety and Kaspersky Safe Kids served as a good starting point for the conceptualisation of Monitor by Parentry.

Using Parental Control software comes with its fair share of problems, and we understand that better than anyone else. Digital parenting is not just about setting controls but encompasses all the efforts and practices to comprehend, support, and regulate children’s activities in digital environments.

To alleviate the distress of parents, Parentry was born. You can learn more about it here - https://parentry.app .It takes inspiration from apps like Weldon, Parent lab and The Happy Child.

Parentry, in conjunction with Monitor, enables a whole new way for parents to be the best version of themselves and have a lifelong, fulfilling relationship with their children. For the same purpose, Parentry has Lessons on Online learning, Social media, Gaming, Cyberbullying and many other issues for parents to read and learn about raising their kids in the digital age. Other than lessons, Workshops by Parentry for parents and children on different topics like Social media, Gaming, Mindfulness and Learning loss, to name a few. Ask by Parentry has answers for all the parents’ issues related to their child's digital well-being, including expert views from top Psychologists in India. If all of these do not work, our in-house counsellors are there to help them out on live chat. Moreover, Guides by Parentry is an upcoming product to help busy parents assist their children in keeping up with their studies and overall development. The Guide would be the bridge between the parent and the child. A Guide has weekly sessions with kids to evaluate their progress in academics, what’s happening in their personal lives, inspiring them to achieve more, help curb any addiction they have and most importantly, help them become better in every aspect.

Challenge

  1. Perform research to identify the pain points that our target segment (Parents & kids) faces in their day to day life with potential technological solutions that can be implemented. List them.
  2. Prioritise and identify the most relevant one among them to solve by building a new feature into Parentry. Make sure to use data to justify your reasons for picking this pain point to solve. The problem you target must have a great reach within our target segment and also impact them to an extent that it would motivate parents to pay for the solution by itself.
  3. Create wireframes and explain how this feature would work.
  4. How will you communicate the benefits of this feature to Parents and Kids? Make a pitch for this.
  5. What would be your execution plan for this feature if you were assigned the role? Include everything required.
